Students will describe applications of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies in library and information science.

LIS 6271- Public Library Services for Homeless Patrons: Post Covid-19

The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in library closure and limited library functionality, creating a crisis for those who use the library as a safe space.  This grant proposal strives to understand how to best serve the homeless populations that rely on Florida libraries post-crisis.  This project includes an extensive literature review, a projected timeline, a year-long plan of important relief services, qualitative service reflection and data collection, a fiscal plan, and two surveys that utilizes quantitative questioning.

LIS 6271 Homework 2

This homework assignment instructed students to find a scholarly article that utilized research methods for data collection and to analyze the quantitative and/or qualitative methods used within the article.  My analysis of this qualitative article allowed me to understand how to ethically collect data from patrons to understand important services, staff attitudes, and areas of study that needed further inquiry.

Students will identify opportunities for research and develop plans for research in applied settings in library and information science.

LIS 6511 Kemmet Public Library Community Needs Assessment

This Needs Assessment for the named "Kemmet Public Library" showcases the use of library statistical data, survey data, and area demographic information to assess the current needs of the library.  The investigative research indicates that KPL needs to enhance the amount of books presented in the Spanish language to meet area demand and increase library inclusion.  The KPL Needs Assessment provides a detailed timeline and projected acquisition goals.
