Welcome

Welcome to my E-Portfolio!  My name is Mikayla Miller and I am excited to begin my career in the field of public librarianship.  This Portfolio chronicles my journey to become a professional public librarian through the use of artifacts and examples from my academic and professional pursuits.

This journey began with a dream to help and encourage my community through literacy, social acceptance, and equity.  I live in Orlando, Florida, where I am excited to use my skills in librarianship to help my community.  I currently work within the circulation department at the Winter Park Public Library, where I initially began as a volunteer when entering into my MLIS program at USF.  Through this position I have learned about a variety of ways libraries help within their communities, and I have begun to participate in the helping process through exceptional service and interactive programs and events.

Within this ePortfolio I will convey my experience in leadership and reference service that will be vital within my future role in adult services.  Further, I will display artifacts relating to the following USF library and information services learning outcomes:

  • Leadership and Innovation

  • Systems and Services

  • Knowledge and Representation

  • Theory and Praxis

My statement of integrity follows the guidelines set aside by USF and applies  to the entirety of my ePortfolio.

My personal narrative describes my journey towards librarianship through the mastery of the USF MLIS core competencies and learning outcomes.
